Chateau Cheval Blanc, St Emilion 1959
96 pts Robert Parker, 95 pts Stephen Tanzer The intense, generous nose displays hints of truffle and black pepper. This mythical Cheval Blanc is rich and full-bodied on the palate. It is also well-structured, with coffee, leather, and blackcurrant flavours - altogether unbelievably delicious, succulent, and long. Huge and incomparably rich, 1959 Cheval Blanc is complex, well-focused, and concentrated. A benchmark for the estate! Incidentally, Gaston Vaissiere, the old maitre de chai, always recommended tasting the 1959 immediately after opening, with no decanting, as he did not think that contact with the air was beneficial for this vintage. In 2011 at the Chateau, such incredible dimension and layers on the nose. Moroccan mint. Just absolutely fascinating - intellectual and challenging from a vocabulary point of view. Such AMAZING blackberry tastes. So mouth-enveloping and totally mouth-coating. Fabulous harmony of texture, fruit and ripe tannins. Finishes two hours later on a note of prune liqueur. This is one of the best wines Bordeaux has ever produced.
MoreChateau de Chamirey Mercurey Blanc en Pierrelet Burgundy France 2015 750 ml 90 pts Wine Spectator & Wine Enthusiast
90 pts Wine Spectator & Wine Enthusiast Light in color with green and gold tints, this wine offers vegetale and grassy aromas as well as notes of pastry (brioche) and dried flowers. On the palate, it is rich and complex with lovely saltiness and light oak on the finish. A voluptuous wine.
MoreChateau de Chamirey Mercurey Rouge Burgundy, France 2016 750 ml
Beautiful dark ruby color, bright and clear. The nose, intense and opened, first reveals on fresh fruits (cherry, strawberry) and then spices and vanilla hints. On the palate, fresh and fruity wine, well balanced with a delicate structure. Ripe and smooth tannins.
MoreChateau de Fresne Anjou Rouge Loire France 2016 750 ml
This wine has the appearance of beautiful dark and purplish robe, with burlat reflections. The bouquet has notes of red fruits and black fruits while the flavors have a sweet attack on the palate revealing good freshness and very promising tannins.
MoreChateau de St Martin Cru Cuvee Rose Provence France 2019 750ml
Grenache, Syrah and the very Provençal Tibouren combine in this fresh, perfumed wine. It's deliciously fruity, the red currants and lemon zest giving a tangy, spicy wine that's ready to drink.
MoreChateau Dubard Bel Air Puisseguin St-Emilion France 2015 750ml
The well-integrated tannins first offer a silky palate to reveal afterwards altogether a dense structure and a fresh mouth with liquorice and fruits of the forest aromas.
MoreChateau Ducru Beaucaillou St Julien, 1986
95 pts Wine Spectator, 91 pts Robert Parker The 1986 Ducru Beaucaillou was served by Bruno Borie both decanted and directly from bottle, poured blind. From the bottle, it has an attractive bouquet with plush blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, indeed, showing more fruité than I was expecting. There is a roundness to these aromatics, perhaps a little more like 1985 in some ways. The palate is medium-bodied and here the seriousness and structure of the 1986 vintages shows through. There is impressive body and though it felt firm and masculine on the finish, there is clearly sufficient fruit that counterbalances the backbone. The decanted version showed a little more volatility on the nose, but here I discerned more complexity on the palate. The 1986 Ducru poured directly from bottle felt a little more savory and strangely, more cohesive, with more of the terroir coming through on the slightly loamy, brown sugar-tinged finish. Tasted July 2016.
MoreChateau Haut Brion, Pessac Leognan 1953
95 pts Robert Parker From a bottle with the original cork still intact, the wine was splash decanted and served. From the moment the wine hit the glass, we all knew we were in for a mind blowing treat. On the nose, the smoke, tar, tobacco, cigar box, cherry and earthy perfume was off the hook. But the pure silk textures of all that sweet, ripe, smoky fruit was breathtaking. The wine was exactly what old, fully mature Bordeaux is all about. If you are like me and cannot these wines today, try and find a rich friend with bottles in their cellar as this is the type of wine that dreams are made of. Apologies to Humphrey Bogart. (2016)
MoreChateau Haut Brion, Pessac Leognan 1961
100 pts Robert Parker, 98 pts Vinous, 96 pts Wine Spectator, 94 pts Stephen Tanzer One of the clear highlights of the night, the 1961 Haut-Brion races across the palate with remarkable opulence and power for a wine of its age. Layers of fruit build to a crescendo of pure pleasure, with hints of licorice, menthol, lavender, sage, cedar and leather that linger on the finish. In virtually any tasting the 1961 would steal the show, but here, in the presence of many of the estate’s legendary vintages, it is quite clear the 1961 doesn’t quite reach the heights of the 1959 of 1989. That in no way detracts from our immense pleasure, though. (2014)
MoreChateau Haut Brion, Pessac Leognan 1966
94 pts Wine Spectator This was paired up with the ’66 La Mission Haut Brion, and it was the slightly less impressive bottle of the two for the first hours it was in the glass. However, it continued to grow and gain depth as the evening wore on, and it was clearly the superior of the two wines by the time it had fully unfolded. The nose is classic HB, offering up notes of roasted cassis, plums, cigar ash, black truffles, Graves earth, and a vague topnote redolent of violets. On the palate the wine is ultimately medium-full (having put on weight as it opened up), with excellent focus and balance, and fine length and grip on the polished and complex finish. I used to think that the ’66 was a bit more of the red fruity and brick dust-like side of Haut Brion, but the last several bottles that I have tasted have moved decisively over to the black fruity side of the ledger. (Drink between 2003-2020) Review from 2007.
MoreChateau L'Ermitage Rhone Blend France 2018 750ml
This Rhone blend is fresh and very fruity. A "thirst-quenching" wine that is a little tannic but with a mellow finish. Certified Organic.
MoreChateau La Cabanne Pomerol Bordeaux 2000
Medium-bodied, but very fruity, with a hint of chocolate, this wine has rustic aromas of cedar and plums. Generous on the palate, it often has an imposing tannic structure, which needs several years to soften and mellow. Smokey and earthy with meat and berry character. Hints of tobacco. Medium body.
MoreChateau La Cabanne Pomerol Bordeaux 2006
91 pts James Suckling A soft and silky red with berry, tobacco and meat character. Medium body and a fresh and clean finish. Structured and austere, this is firm, dark and dry. The black currant fruit flavors are edgy, with juiciness coming through right at the end.
MoreChateau La Cabanne Pomerol Bordeaux 2012
92 pts James Suckling, 90 pts Wine Enthusiast This is a ripe, fruity, wine that's wonderfully representative of Merlot. It has soft tannins, juicy acidity and a delicious black-currant character. It's likely best for medium-term aging. Dense and ripe fruit on the palate with medium body, silky and juicy tannins. Hints of walnut. Plenty of pretty fruit and balance. Drink or hold.
MoreChateau Lafite Rothschild 1986
100 pts Robert Parker, 94 pts Wine Spectator The 1986 possesses outstanding richness, a deep color, medium body, a graceful, harmonious texture, and superb length. The penetrating fragrance of cedar, chestnuts, minerals, and rich fruit is a hallmark of this wine. Powerful, dense, rich, and tannic, as well as medium to full-bodied, with awesome extraction of fruit, this Lafite has immense potential. Patience is required. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2030. Pauillac.
MoreChateau Latour-Martillac Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux France 2014 750 ml
93 pts James Suckling, 91 pts Robert Parker/ Wine Spectator The 2014 Latour-Martillac has an attractive bouquet with intense blackberry, briary, warm gravel and balsamic notes that are very well defined and evoke Pessac-Léognan through and through. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannin. It feels gentle in the mouth, not structured but fleshy and full, fanning out with crushed strawberry, red cherry and white pepper towards the satisfying finish. This is early drinking compared to its peers, yet well crafted.
MoreChateau Le Coteau, Margaux, Bordeaux, France 2015 750 ml

MoreChateau Leoville Las Cases St Julien, 1982
95 pts Robert Parker, Stephen Tanzer and Wine Spectator Full medium ruby. Aromas of currant, black cherry, licorice, minerals and flowers. Thick, sweet and deep; still young but in a gentler, lower-acid style than either the '86 or '96. Still, this boasts sneaky intensity and wonderful persistence. Tannins are substantial but thoroughly ripe.
MoreChateau Mouton Rothchild, Pauillac, 750 ml, 1988
92 pts Wine Spectator The wine has an intense, garnet red colour with a coppery tint and a highly refined nose, mingling attractive floral notes of lily and lilac with more complex aromas of vanilla, liquorice, tobacco and chocolate, then some more mineral notes that emerge with airing. Full on the palate, its tannins are enfolded in a stylish structure that melts into a rich array of flavours in which kirsch and blackcurrant liqueur combine with coffee, caramel and a touch of menthol. The finish is fresh and well-balanced, pleasantly long, combining power and refinement. A classic Pauillac.
MoreChateau Yvonne Saumur-Champigny Rouge Loire France 2016 750 ml

The youthful freshness of the 60% Merlot leads the way in this blend, which also includes 20% each of Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Red-fruit, roasted wood, light herb and coffee aromas lead into a riper palate of strawberry and plums, which almost veers toward sweetness.
MoreComartin Chardonnay R-bar-R Santa Cruz Mnts 2016 750ml
92 pts Wine Enthusiast Broad aromas of tangerine rind, tangerine blossom, wet dough and soft yellow melon make for a very pleasant start to this single-vineyard expression. The rich and velvet-like palate feel of the Merlot blends beautifully between the rugged and organic feel of the Cabernet Franc. This blend reveals its unique power mid palate, and gently winds down into a delicate and mellow finish.
